Esophagoscopy

Examination and biopsy of the esophagus are done under brief general anesthesia using a small examining tube called an esophagoscope. The examining tube is passed through the mouth into the esophagus. This procedure takes approximately 15 minutes, with most patients ready to leave 1-2 hours after arrival.
